Phew! It's almost the end of January and my guess is you've done a little bit of decluttering after the holidays. Now it's time to look ahead to 2023 and see what décor trends are predicted that you could incorporate into your home.
These trend predictions are coming from sources such as Pinterest and Etsy. As Pinterest is actually a search engine and not a social media platform it monitors popular search terms and is able to leverage this search data to help identify upcoming, or continuing trends. It's worth noting that Pinterest predictions have averaged an 8/10 accuracy rate each year!
So, onto the home décor predictions!
It's out with the "boring" and in with the weirdcore. So clean lines and minimal-esc homes styles are going (not gonna lie, I'm kinda upset with this one lol). You will be seeing an increase in home décor that is more eclectic. Think historic combined with hippy (or hipstoric as Pinterest said). Mass produced home décor is less favorable and repurposing old furniture and hand me downs is the way to go to give your home this hipstoric feel. Your home is your space to express yourself as you combine styles without having everything matching (hmm, maybe I do like this trend after all).

Continuing with weirdcore we have Mushrooms! Yes mushrooms. The lockdown had everyone creating their own joy, and apparently mushrooms was it (still talking décor here, not the edible kind lol). Pinterest saw a 170% rise in searches for Fantasy mushroom art, and an incredible 695% increase in funky house décor. Minimalist this is not. Think of this as your way to self express in a maximal way.
Etsy has come up with a color, or should I say, colors of the year. I present indigo and honeycomb. A bold color combination that goes together so well. The prediction last year of emerald green was on point, so it will be interesting to see how creators and home décor enthusiasts will you this double color combo.

Continuing with colors, Etsy is predicting, er, colors. As minimal style decorating is fading, home owners are looking to add pops of color to their spaces. The lockdown had everyone working from home and I guess off white and agreeable grey were not bringing as much joy as we thought. So coming out of lockdown people have been adding color to the décor. Etsy has seen a HUGE 1420% increase in hot pink décor searches. Even Pantones color of the year for 2023 is Viva Magenta (aka dark hot pink) Hot pink may not be your thing, but consider adding vibrant colors to your rooms.
Marble is in! Etsy has seen a 346% year on year increase in searches for "marble coaster set'. Maybe a marble sculpture, or bowl would compliment your kitchen. Either way, the swirly pattern of greys and blacks is popular this year.
Phew! That's it. That's my very general round up of home décor trends for 2023. I'm not suggesting for one minute you go out and rearrange your home with mushrooms and hot pink, but if you are looking to refresh a room or two a pop of color, and perhaps a mushroom would be very trendy.
